Paulo Ferreira is an internationally recognized Portuguese tenor. Recently he sang amongst other, the roles of Don Alvaro (La forza del destino) at the Basel Theater (Switzerland), Riccardo (Un ballo in Maschera) at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck (Austria), Foresto (Attila) at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern (Germany), Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Hanover State Opera (Germany), Enzo (La Gioconda) at the Malmö Opera (Sweden) and his Italian debut as Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli conducted by Maestro Daniel Oren.

Paulo Ferreira was a scholarship holder of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and studied piano, cello and singing. After graduating from the Porto Superior School of Music and Performing Arts, he continued his vocal studies in Rome. The winner of several first prizes in national and international vocal competitions, Ferreira made his operatic debut as Don José (Carmen) at the “Coliseu” in Porto, which was received with great enthusiasm by the public and the press.

His international debut was in July 2011 alongside Anna Netrebko in the Cologne Philharmonic.

As a result, Paulo Ferreira has performed in Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, Norway and Sweden with roles such as Riccardo (Un Ballo in Maschera), Ismaele (Nabucco), Manrico (Il Trovatore), Don Alvaro (Forza del Destino), Foresto (Attila), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Calaf (Turandot), Grigory (Boris Godunov), Giasone (Medea), Don José (Carmen), singer (Rosenkavalier), Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) and Gabriele (Cristina, Regina di Svezia). His role debut as Hagenbach (La Wally) was recorded on DVD for the Capriccio label.

An extensive concert activity complete his musical commitment, the “Requiem” by Andrew Lloyd-Webber, the 9th Symphony and “Christus am Ölberg, Op.85” by Beethoven; “Petite messe solennelle” by Rossini, “Die Erste Walpurgisnacht, Op.60” by Mendelssohn, as well as the “Requiem” by Mozart and “Messa da Requiem” by Verdi, represent highlights of his concert career.

Future engagements include Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) at the Hanover State Opera (Germany), Don Alvaro (La Forza del Destino) at the Theater Augsburg (Germany), Verdi’s Requiem in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon (Portugal), and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem in Madrid (Spain) with Choir and Orchestra of the RTVE, in the context of a live broadcast.
